In 1998 the local men of Forthill came together to establish the first ever Men’s group in the area. It was set up to help the two most vulnerable groups in the area, the elderly and the youth. Some of the work included, cutting lawns, weeding, cleaning gutters, small repair jobs, and installing smoke alarms and establishment of a youth club. They also held a general clean-up of the area which involved sweeping of the streets and maintenance of the local green areas.
Northside Resource centre became the new home of the Men’s club and they ran various activities for the children of the area ranging from art classes to bingo sessions as well as a weekly disco.
